FREEZE TAG

This is a great game to play with the whole team. Many start shows with this game as it is very high paced and is a nice balance between zinger (one liners) and scene work comedy. Take chances.

Get a reason to start a scene (Location, Relationship)
Two players begin a scene downstage of the rest of the team.
Player three yells “FREEZE”, taps out and replaces one of the two players in the exact physical position.
This physical position inspires a new scene with totally new WHO WHERE WHAT

TIPS:
Take chances. Break conventions. Be as physical as possible.
Jump in there and trust that once you hit the position, the physical will inspire the mental.
Avoid overly violent scenes, even if all parties are trained in stage combat. Energies are on overdrive in a fast paced game like Freeze Tag; people can and will get hurt.
Keep the pace up. Be on your toes looking for fun ways to jump in and start the next scene.
FOR CLASSES, the teacher and/or MC can yell “FREEZE”, as new improvisers may shy away.

We have not played this game in the show in a long time. I found this clip from WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY live.
